Sonic the Human - Author Message Rating: 9.5 (2 votes) | Views: 852 | Submitted: September 17, 2008 05:09:14 PMBecause it was noted to me that the last episode seems to make it out like I hate Sonic, I wanted to make an official statement here. Also as a note, I`m not doing this to attack the person that made this statement. Because someone actually contacted me about this, I am concerned that other people have the same thoughts as they did. So this is up for anyone who may think I hate Sonic.
I do not hate Sonic. I have nothing against him. I have done my best to make him not so "jerkish" as what most Shadow-Amy stories have him be. Sonic attacked Shadow not to be a jerk, but to prove that he is willing to fight for what he wants, which is Amy. It is a scenario that is very common and has been around for centuries, and is present in other species. When two males want the same female, they duke it out. This action in itself does not mean that one or the other is a jerk. It`s natural, and actually instinctive I guess. What girl can honestly say she wouldn`t get a rise from seeing two guys fight over her?
Sonic is worried about Amy. In this series, he knows next to nothing about Shadow. What he does know that Shadow definitely has a dark personality and has violent outbursts. Would Shadow hurt Amy? Sonic doesn`t know for sure if he would or not. There is a lot surrounding Shadow that makes Sonic feel that Shadow is bad news and shouldn`t be around someone innocent and sweet like Amy. Sonic cares about Amy and wants to protect her, in the best way he knows how. Who he perceives to be a threat didn`t leave by words, so he took it to the next step and tried to force Shadow away with a fight. Sadly, he underestimated Shadow with his lack of knowledge on the guy.
Shadow had decided he wanted Amy, who reminds him a lot like Maria. He lost someone who was important to him once and does not intend to loose another important person. That, coupled with being attacked, drove Shadow to fight back against Sonic. Again, being willing to fight for what he wants comes into play. More on his feelings will be revealed soon in the series so I won`t spoil them here.
As we know from the games and shows, even the comics, neither Sonic or Shadow are easily intimidated by other forces. It is only natural that the two rival males ignored each other`s warnings and thus the fight came to be.
And besides, what would a Sonic fan story that has Sonic and Shadow together be without those two getting into at least one fight with one another? *wink*
In conclusion, I do not hate Sonic. I have tried my best to have a different approach with Sonic in the world of Shadow-Amy pairings. Perhaps in the next few episodes, Sonic will have a better chance to show his standpoint on the whole matter and would show that I`m not trying to portray him as a jerk. I`ve had this section, starting with the previous episode, to the next few, planned out since before I started episode one. I`ve had it in mind constantly as I worked. I hope it will bring more light to Sonic`s character in this series.
I hope this clarified things. If not, hopefully the next episode will clarify it even further. CommentsTo leave a comment, you must be logged in. |
