Sonic, Amy and Shadow wander the clothes store until they finally locate the winter coat section. As winter is fast approaching, there are many winter coats on the shelves and racks. At a quick glance, there are many styles and colours and sizes available. At first Sonic thinks that this is going to take all day. Girls usually have to try on every piece of clothing to see how each style and colour looks on them before they finally make a decision. Right?

Amy verbalizes the discovery of the winter coat section as she bounds off to them. Shadow follows along at his regular pace and with his hands in his pants pockets. Sonic is following her as well with his hands in fists at his side as per how he normally walks.

Amy starts off at the first rack and starts moving each coat to the side, one by one. Each coat on this rack seems to be the typical winter coat where the hood has the fluff around the rim. Amy titters, thinking about how these coats would make her look like an eskimo. Nothing personal against the cute coats. They are just not the style she is looking for.

Sonic is overlooking Amy`s actions. His fists go to his sides as he notices that she isn`t grabbing several coats already to try on, as what he feels that most girls do. Maybe this shopping trip won`t be so bad.

Shadow watches Amy for a moment before he turns his head to the side to look among the other racks of winter coats. One rack in particular catches his interest. He walks away from Sonic and Amy to approach the rack. Now, he isn`t just walking normally. His gait makes it seem like he is stalking the rack like prey even though his hands remain in his pockets. Once he reaches the rack, he stops and looks at the rack from top to bottom. Then Shadow walks down the length of the rack, eying each coat as he passes it.

Sonic turns back to Amy and decides to help her out,"Did you have any kind of coat in mind?"

Amy moves onto another rack which has a different style than what the last rack has,"Not really. Just so long as it doesn`t look silly."

Sonic comes up to the rack that Amy is at and pulls out a blue coat,"How about this one?"

Amy turns her head to the side and looks at the coat Sonic holds. She puts her hand over her smiling mouth,"Are you suggesting that one because the blue is the same shade as your hair?"

Sonic pretends not to notice,"Oh is it?"

He puts the coat back on the rack. He can`t help but smile. She still has him on her mind. Things are not as bleak as he believes. He turns around and sees Shadow walking back towards him and Amy. But still, Shadow must be removed from the scene somehow.

Shadow has a couple of coats in his possession. His hand has a hold of the curve of all the hangers that the selected coats are on. His hand is tossed over his shoulder carelessly to hold the coats over his shoulder. They drape down his backside. His other hand is still in his pants pocket. His ignores Sonic`s presence and approaches Amy,"Would any of these suit your taste?"

Amy turns around and notices the several coats that Shadow has gathered for her. The coats are all pretty close the same in styles with subtle differences. The colour choices are pink, red and black. A couple of the coats have two of those colours in combination. Shadow holds out his hand with the coats, presenting them to her like an offering. Amy smiles sweetly at Shadow and candidly says,"Wow, thanks, Shadow. You seem to have good taste."

Jealousy rouses up in Sonic once more. She waved off his suggestion but accepts Shadow`s. A small smile flickers on Shadow`s face before he returns to his normal emotionless state. Amy takes the coats from Shadow and looks at each one. She doesn`t really feel that black is her colour even though pink and black do look good together. She shifts her eyes to Shadow at the thought of pink and black together. Her eyes move back to the coats.

Among all the selections that Shadow has brought, one of them catches Amy`s attention. This one is long enough where the bottom of it would reach down to Amy`s knees. The collar that would be around the neck has a small amount of fluff around the rim. The fluff isn`t nearly as thick as what one would find on typical winter coats. There are pockets in the coat and a zipper running from top to bottom. It certainly looks like it would do well to keep her warm. The colours are red with a few white designs. This one would match her boots! This coat is the winner.

Amy has the coat in both of her hands and she happily holds it out,"This one would be perfect!"

"While all of you are losers!"

Shadow, Amy and Sonic turns around and see Jet and the rest of the Babylonians approaching them. As usual, Jet is in front with Wave right behind him. This time, Jet seems very angry. He and the others of his group stop before Sonic`s small group. Bark and Wave seem to have recovered from their injuries from the skateboard competition. Bean, however, has sustained the most damages and therefore he is still healing. Jet points to Shadow,"You! Right here! Right now!"

Sonic feels very confused,"What? Jet, what is this about now?"

The ignorance of the blue haired one seems to only rise the anger level in Jet. He bursts out,"You know EXACTLY what this is about! He took out most of my team during the skateboard competition!"

Now Sonic feels a little irritated. Sure Tails is safe now since Jet has decided on a new target. But now, Jet wants to pick a fight? Right here in the mall in front of a lot of people? He is just dying to get into some sort of trouble.

Wave looks at Jet,"I don`t think it`s really a good idea to get tangled with that guy, Jet."

Shadow shoves his hands inside his pants pockets and turns his body to the side at Jet. He turns his head from Jet, looking off to the side, putting on a total disinterested posture. This only makes Jet want to fight him even more,"No way! He needs to be taught a lesson about messing with the Babylonians!"

Sonic raises an eyebrow at Jet,"What do you have to prove by-"

Shadow now looks at Jet,"Fine."

Shadow takes a step to approach Jet but Amy grabs him by his arm with both of her hands. Shadow stops and turns to look at Amy. Amy seems worried,"No, Shadow, don`t fight him."

Sonic walks away from Jet and the rest of the Babylonians,"She`s right. They`re not worth it."

Amy starts pulling Shadow with her so that they can leave with Sonic, who is heading towards the check-out area for Amy to buy her new coat. Shadow doesn`t give Jet a second look as he leaves the scene with Amy. Jet`s blood is boiling at this point. He wants this fight with Shadow. He wants Shadow to know his place. He grabs the nearest object which is a hawk plush that`s being posed with several ties on a table for decorative purposes. He throws the small plush as hard as he can.

The hawk plush whips through the air and hits Amy in the back of her head at a high speed. Even though it is a plush, it`s small size and speed coupled with the plastic beak make the contact painful. Upon impact, Amy makes a small squeak noise. Immediately her hand places itself where she was hit and she whirls around and sees that Jet was the one who threw it at her. Her mouth is open as though she were shocked and angry at the same time that he did such a thing. It seems rather childish of him to throw an object in a tantrum. Shadow and Sonic both whirl around as well and neither one is a bit happy about that little act.

The need to exact revenge swarms over Shadow like maggots in an open wound of a dead animal. Jet brought harm to Amy and therefore he must be punished for it. A guttural growl comes from Shadow for a second time this day. Now there is a reason to fight this guy. Shadow starts for Jet willing to give him a fight as he requested. Oh he will give Jet a good pounding.

Sonic is about to voice a warning to Jet about starting trouble but he stops when Amy jumps in front of Shadow. She sure seems insistant on Shadow not fighting Jet. Why? It would probably teach Jet a lesson, he could sure use it.

Amy jumping in front of Shadow does make him stop his advancement towards Jet. She tells Shadow that fighting Jet here is not a good idea. Amy grabs Shadow`s right arm and tries to pull him back in the direction that they were heading to earlier. Shadow slowly turns his body around as Amy pulls him but he`s hesitant. He looks at Jet with revenge pumping through his veins. Amy notices Shadow`s hesitation and tugs on his jacket sleeve and continues to encourage him to leave the scene. Shadow finally gives in to Amy`s wishes and leaves though he doesn`t like the look that Jet is giving them.

Jet has a wicked smile on his face. He can see the chemistry working between Shadow and Amy. Perfect. He won`t have to fight him to hurt Shadow, he can just hurt Amy. Hurt the heart and you will do more damage than what any punch could do. Jet turns around and leaves the scene with the rest of the Babylonians leaving with him. Any curious on-lookers in the area slowly return back to their shopping as they whisper among themselves about the recent uprising between the Sonic gang and the Babylonians. Should they expect another fight between the two groups really soon?

As Amy pays for her new coat, Shadow occasionally looks back in the direction of where Jet and the others were. Jet`s look concerns him. What is he going to do? He is definitely plotting something. Sonic seems less worried about the situation. He has had to deal with Jet for a few years now and has never ran into a situation where things were deadly between them and the Babylonians. There`s no need to be so concerned now. Besides, if he does fight Shadow, chances are Shadow will be handing his butt to him. He may not like Shadow, but Sonic knows he is dangerous and pretty tough. Most likely he would win any fight he gets into.

Once the transaction is finally complete, Sonic places back a magazine he was boredly flipping through. Amy doesn`t feel very comfortable with being at the mall now since Jet`s appearance. She wants to leave but before they do, Sonic wants to go to one of the food shops here and grab a quick meal. So he, Amy and Shadow leave the clothes store and head down the mall`s hall to look for the food court.

On the way to the food court, the small group has to pass by an electronics store, which has a couple of tvs in the display window. The sounds coming from the tv catch the attention of Sonic and Amy. They happily trot up to the display window to watch the tv while Shadow stands off to the side, curious of what has caused Amy to leave his side.

The tv is currently showing an advertisement of Sonic X, a new show that is a company`s take on Sonic and his adventures. His friends are in it, too. But everyone are animals. Must be because most of everyone`s surnames are names of animals. The song that is playing with the advertisement is a catchy tune. Sonic and Amy must have seen this advertisement before since they both are kind of singing along with the song.

Shadow watches the advertisement in annoyance once he realizes what it is about. He shoves his hands back into his pants pocket and turns to the side to look away with disinterest. But then he turns his head back to Amy. His harsh look melts a little. She must still like Sonic.

Once the advertisement is over, an advertisement for another show comes up and Sonic and Amy step away from the display window. Sonic has a boastful smile on his face,"Man, that is cool that they`re going to have some new episodes come out this weekend."

Amy is smiling as well,"Yeah, I`ll bet they`ll be even better than the other ones."

Continuing their way to the food area, Amy notices Shadow seeming a little down. Instead of looking straight ahead like usual, his eyes are directed to the floor before his hover shoes. Amy would question Shadow about what has him feeling down but she knows that Shadow would either say that nothing is bothering him or would not answer at all. She watches his face for a bit, looking for any kind of clue of what he is thinking about. When she can`t find any peeks at his thoughts, she formulates a plan to brighten up his mood.

Sonic finds the food stand that he was looking for; the chili dog stand. Naturally he orders as many as he can eat. While he is distracted with that, Amy executes her plan.

Amy stands up on her tip toes and tugs on Shadow`s jacket sleeve to pull him down a little closer, as he is taller than her. She gives him a quick kiss on the cheek. Being surprised by the action is impossible for Shadow to hide. He looks down at Amy and she can see the blush coming through that he is trying to hold back. Amy puts her hand over her mouth and gives a small giggle.

Sonic re-joins the two with his mouth full of the chili dogs that he is almost done eating already,"Ok, guys, I`m set. Let`s go. Uh...Where exactly are we going to?"

Amy looks at Sonic,"Well, I was kind of thinking of just going back home-"

"All right, to your home it is."

Shadow folds his arms, getting mildly annoyed with Sonic cutting Amy off for the second time today. Amy isn`t as annoyed about it as Shadow is but she does begin to wish that Sonic would stop doing that.

How rude...
