Sorry this took a while to get up. Personal life is having some problems.

Coincidentally, it turns out Halloween is on a Friday this year. I had no idea about this until just today.

Amy bounds off to the school dance room where the Halloween dance is being held. She can hear the blaring music coming from behind it`s closed doors.

Her Halloween costume this year is pretty simple. She has boots on as usual and instead of her usual dress, she has on a mini dress. The length of the bottom piece is shorter than what her normal dress is. On the back of her mini dress is a pink hedgehog tail pinned to just above her rear end. Attached to her headband is a set of cute, pink, medium sized hedgehog ears. She carries a small bag in her hand which holds a couple of items. She has a feeling that she will need them.

The music becomes louder once Amy opens the door to enter the dance room. She is nearly blown back from the sudden volume change but she wears a smile on her face. Tonight will be the best night of the year!

She enters and the door swings itself closed. Amy looks around for anyone familiar. The first person she sees is Rouge. Rouge`s costume is a simple bat costume consisting of wings, ears and a tail. She is coming towards Amy while dragging Knuckles and Silver with her. She smiles to Amy,"There you are, Amy."

Neither Silver or Knuckles seem to be interested in having any part of what Rouge plans on doing with them. Silver doesn`t have a costume on and it looks like Knuckles only has about half of his costume on. Amy notices the distress of the two guys,"Hey, Rouge, what`s going on?"

"Oh no big deal. These two are just being babies about the costumes I brought them."

Knuckles tries to remove the echidna tail Rouge has attached to the back of his pants,"I`m not dressing up as an echidna!"

Silver desperately tries to free his arm from Rouge`s grasp,"And I outright REFUSE my costume!"

Rouge looks back at the two,"But you two would look so cute...Knuckles as an echidna and Silver-"

"Don`t you dare say it!"

"And Silver..."

"No!"

"Silver`s costume is a cute little hamster!"

"Argh!"

Silver begins to run but he doesn`t actually go anywhere. Rouge`s grip on him remains strong,"Oh come on now. It`s just for one night and not even the entire night."

Amy puts a hand over her mouth to try and hide the smile,"Silver as a hamster...Hehe..."

Amy looks at Rouge,"So I guess we`re the only ones who came to the Halloween dance?"

Rouge nods,"Yeah, I guess so."

Somehow through the blaring music, Amy hears the door to the dance room open then slowly close. She looks over to the door and sees Shadow walking towards her. He came, he actually came! When Shadow reaches the small group Amy quickly wraps her arms around him,"I`m glad you made it! I was worried you weren`t going to come!"

Shadow looks down at her,"Why wouldn`t I have come?"

Amy releases Shadow and then looks up at him. The reality is that she felt that way because she is used to Sonic being unreliable about keeping dates. She decides to not inform Shadow of this and instead tells him that she was just worried because the dance was already in session and he wasn`t there. This answer seems to satisfy him.

Rouge finally gives up on trying to get Silver into the cutesy hamster costume. She goes off onto the main floor where other people are and starts dancing. Silver sighs in relief of being freed from being tortured by a hamster costume. He decides to enjoy himself on the dance floor and walks off to do so. Knuckles has no desire to dance so he stays off to the side by the wall with Amy and Shadow.

Amy takes notice that Shadow doesn`t have a costume. She picks up her bag from the floor and pulls out the contents - a black hedgehog tail and a set of large, black hedgehog ears. She shows them to Shadow who just seems to be confused. Amy sets the ears on Shadow`s head and attaches the tail onto the back of his pants,"I had a feeling you didn`t have your own Halloween costume. So, I brought a simple hedgehog costume for you."

Shadow reaches a hand up and touches one of the ears. It feels pretty soft and holds itself up pretty well. Knuckles happens to look over to see the complete costume pieces on Shadow. He then smiles,"That actually looks pretty cool."

Amy smiles to Shadow,"Yeah it does, doesn`t it? It fits perfectly!"

Shadow at first looks at Knuckles then to Amy."Well, then, if you like it..."

Amy takes a hold of Shadow`s hand,"Let`s go out onto the floor and dance."

Shadow doesn`t allow himself to get pulled away from the wall,"Um..."

He lowers his head a bit and avoids eye contact with Amy. Amy looks at him a moment. She then understands his body language,"You can`t dance?"

"I`m afraid not..."

"How about when a slow song comes? Slow dances are very easy. I can teach you."

Shadow knows precisely what kind of dance she means. In his mind, that dance is usually reserved for lovers. He stammers a bit before finally saying almost inaudibly that he agrees to allow Amy to teach him how to slow dance. Amy can`t help but smile. She finds his nervousness to be quite cute.

Several more of the regular songs are played through. Rouge is having the time of her life and Silver seems to enjoy himself as well. He does his best to avoid Rouge. Knuckles isn`t much of a dancer so he remains to the side for the whole time. It feels like forever before the dance djs finally put on a song that is appropriate for slow dancing. Amy takes Shadow by the hand and leads him out onto the floor.

The two of them stop at a spot that Amy chooses for them to dance at. Shadow looks at Amy for her to tell him what to do. She faces Shadow and begins his dance lesson,"All right, Shadow, first put your hand on my waist."

He fights desperately against a blush that is trying to find it`s way onto his face as Amy takes his right hand and sets it on her waist. She slips her left hand onto Shadow`s side and slides her hand to his back. It is more proper for the girl to have her hand on the guy`s shoulder but Amy prefers to not be so formal with her friend. Then her right hand takes a hold of Shadow`s left hand and she laces her fingers in between his. Shadow gulps. Does she realize what kind of gesture she is making by lacing their fingers together like that? Finally, Amy tells Shadow to just step with her.

Before he knows it, he is slow dancing with Amy. He looks down at Amy nervously for a moment. She`s smiling sweetly up at him, almost adorned. Shadow quickly shifts his eyes around to those who are around them. Everyone is more or less doing the same thing and they have their fingers laced together as well. Shadow looks back down at Amy. She has her eyes closed now and seems to be humming with the music.

About halfway through the song, Amy seems to become a little maudlin and she lays her head against Shadow`s chest. He feels unsure about this but says or does nothing to stop her. Her right hand slips free from his left hand and wraps itself around his waist to join her left hand. Shadow decides to let his now free hand be placed on Amy`s remaining waist side.

The two are in such close contact with one another at this time that Amy can hear a soft "ting-ling" noise coming from Shadow. She opens her eyes and allows her ears to tell her where exactly the noise is coming from. She finds that the noise is coming from his right hip. Amy lifts the bottom of Shadow`s shirt a bit and as she does so, Shadow lifts his right arm to get it out of the way so that he can see just what she is doing. Amy stops and sees a chaos emerald dangling from a chain which connects it to a belt buckle on his pants. A smile creeps up on her face as her hand reaches down and takes the chaos emerald in her fingers. The chaos emeralds are the size of a key chain charm. This chaos emerald that Shadow has is a red one; it goes with his appearance really well. Amy turns the emerald around in her fingers,"You still have your emerald, huh?"

Shadow nods his head,"Yes."

Amy releases the emerald and lets it fall back to his side. Her hand seems to be restless now as it moves from the chaos emerald to flicking the hedgehog tail costume piece she put on Shadow earlier. Shadow notices this,"What are you doing?"

Amy giggles a bit and says,"You actually look pretty good with this on."

At this time, the song changes from the slow, easy song to a much more up-beat dance song. Amy takes a hold of Shadow`s hand,"Come on, we should re-group with everyone."

Amy, Shadow, Rouge, Knuckles and Silver leave the Halloween dance. The dance would continue for another half an hour or so but the small group wants to join up with Sonic and Tails for trick or treating and then head to Amy`s house for the slumber party with everyone else. Amy is thankful that this year Halloween is on a Friday. This allows everyone ample time for trick or treating and can stay up late to enjoy the Halloween atmosphere longer.

Once they arrive at Sonic`s house, Sonic and Tails are just exiting their home. The two are already in their costumes. Tails is dressed up as a fox while Sonic has a hedgehog costume similar to Shadow and Amy`s hedgehog costumes only his colours are blue instead of black or pink. Sonic waves to everyone with a smile but then his smile drops upon seeing Amy and Shadow`s costumes. His jaw drops open,"What? You guys dressed as hedgehogs, too?"

Amy smiles happily and poses herself cutely. She does a quick spin around to show herself off,"Yeah! What a coincidence!"

After her twirls, Sonic notices the extra short dress she is wearing. He recognizes this dress. This dress is what Amy usually wears when she is in a flirty mood and she usually flirts with Sonic. She seems to think that such a dress would persuade him to move in her direction. Even though his shyness has pushed her away at all of her advances on him, Sonic now realizes just exactly where his feelings lie on Amy. His jealously that she wore that dress when she went to the dance with Shadow proves it as well as his jealously that it was SHADOW that she danced with. Then a small glimpse of guilt begins to rise up in him. Amy went to the dance with Shadow because Sonic turned her down.

Sonic looks at Amy again. She is leaning over and patting Tails on the head, telling him how cute he looks in his costume. Rouge is agreeing with her and also gives Tails praise. Sonic`s eyes widen as he suddenly realizes something. If Amy were to bend over any more than what she is currently, her rear would become visible. He can`t let Shadow, or anyone else, see that! Sonic zips over and quickly comes up with a way to get Amy to stand upright,"Uh, Amy! You still want to walk with me and Tails tonight for trick or treating?"

To Sonic`s relief, Amy does stand up,"Of course, Sonic! You know I would love to walk with you guys."

"Great! Let`s get going!"
