I got assistance from someone in the Sonic community who has given me several ideas for this series already that will be implemented starting this episode. I will be elongating the episodes now since the main intros are done and an actual plot is now formed.

There are posters all over the walls of the school advertising the Halloween dance. It falls on Halloween and everyone who goes may wear a costume if they wish, though it`s not a requirement. If the person does not want to wear a costume, they can just dress in casual wear.

This advertisement about the dance certainly doesn`t go unnoticed by Amy. Excitement overcomes her as she thinks about going to the dance with Sonic. Time and again she has tried to get him to go on a date with her but he always turns it down for some reason or another. He certainly won`t have an excuse this time!

The classes have ended for the day and so everyone is going to their lockers to drop off any un-needed materials. Sonic is at his locker and leaves almost all of his books in there. He only needs his math book today. The inside of his locker is pretty messy. Books and papers are tossed carelessly in there. Any other individual looking in Sonic`s locker would not be able to visually sort out the mess. But Sonic likes his mess where it is. He has grown so accustomed to his lack of organization in his locker that he might find it difficult to find his materials if the locker was cleaned up.

On the inside door to his locker are some photographs taped on the side. Most of the photographs consist of either Tails or some video game characters that catch his interest. Curiously, there is also a picture of Amy among the collection.

Sonic puts his hand on his locker door and pauses a moment to admire all of the pictures that are on the door. He makes a content smile.

Unexpectedly, Amy leaps on his backside and wraps her arms around his upper torso, gleefully squealing his name so that the entire school could hear. Sonic quickly slams shut his locker door before doing anything else. He quickly whirls around to face Amy but she is still latched onto him so she gets whirled around with his body,"Amy?!"

Amy giggles as Sonic makes a couple more failed attempts to turn around to face her. Finally he gives up and does his best to sound frustrated,"Amy, get off me!"

She isn`t phased one bit by Sonic`s tone but she does release her hold on him and giggles a bit more. Sonic exhales and puts a hand on the back of his head,"Oi...What do you want now, Amy?"

Amy folds her hands together and holds them in front of her body. Her right foot takes a step back behind her left foot and she leans forward a bit,"The Halloween dance is coming up. It`s only one week away, next Friday. You wanna go to the dance with me, Sonic?"

"Aw, Amy, I can`t. I had already promised Tails I would take him out trick or treating. In all fairness, he asked first."

Amy`s smile drops to a sad frown. She has a pouty face for a moment before she stops herself from going overboard on being sad in front of Sonic. She sighs and walks away from Sonic. Sonic watches her walk away from him and his arm drops down his side. He is thankful that she didn`t make a scene about the rejection but it is true. Sonic had promised Tails Halloween night long before the Halloween dance was advertised. He holds a "first come first served" policy.

Amy goes to her locker to make a material exchange of her own. When she opens up her locker, it is contrast to Sonic`s locker. Her books and papers are much more organized. She does have a locker habit in common with Sonic - she has pictures on her locker door. There is at least one picture of each person in her circle of friends, though there are several of Sonic and there lacks a picture of Shadow. Amy takes note of this and begins to wonder how she will get Shadow to let her get a picture of him. She turns back to her task at hand and tosses in several books that she won`t need for homework.

She sighs again. Sonic found an excuse; it`s for Tails. Amy holds no grudge against Tails. He is just a kid. Sometimes she even feels like a big sister to him and she loves spending time with him. But Sonic...She so badly wants him to take her as his girlfriend as she always dreams of being. It`s not like he hates her. He certainly tolerates her playful antics and seems to have fun when she`s around. But why does he continually reject her advances on him? There`s no one else he`s interested in.

Amy takes a deep breath and tries to wipe away her sadness. She can`t be sad around her friends, she must be happy! Amy looks at herself in the small mirror she tacked up on the back wall of her locker. Yep, this smile could fool anyone into thinking that there is nothing wrong going on with her. Satisfied with hiding her sadness, Amy closes her locker.

With the locker door out of the way, Shadow comes into view. Amy gasps upon seeing him and jumps back a little, not expecting him, or anyone else, to be standing there.

Shadow has his back to the row of lockers, leaning back against the locker next to Amy`s. He has his arms folded and his head turned to the side, looking down at her. Instead of his usual serious, concentrative look, his facial expression right now is a bit different. It`s almost as if he is communicating to her non-verbally that she cannot fool him about her real feelings.

For quite a while, neither Amy or Shadow speak a word to one another. Amy averts her eyes from Shadow. Is he waiting for her to say something? What should she say? What does he want her to say?

Saved by the bell! Or so the expression goes. Sonic and the rest of the gang arrive on the scene and call for Amy and Shadow to join up with them to go pick up the children from the elementary school. Amy looks back up at Shadow and then turns to go with her friends. Shadow removes himself from his reclining spot on the lockers and follows her to the rather large and diverse group.

On their way to the elementary school, Sonic occasionally shifts his eyes to Shadow. He`s still very suspicious of this guy. His outbursts in biology class, him shooting the bag of chips in the cafeteria and sending the whole school in a panic last week, and GUN is involved with him and calling him "Project Shadow." The most strange part about it is that Amy says that she had been friends with Shadow for a long time, but yet she has never mentioned him until the day of his arrival at school. The last time he tried talking to Amy about it, their discussion was interrupted. Since then, Sonic has not tried asking Amy again. Either she is in on whatever is going on with Shadow or she really doesn`t have any idea. The latter is the more likely of the two options. If that`s the case, Amy is truly in danger. But until he has this figured out and learns more about Shadow, Sonic isn`t going to blindly attack Shadow. If he can run as fast as Sonic, who knows what else Shadow can do?

Like any other day, the Sonic gang takes their usual positions by the elementary school steps to wait for Tails, Cream and Charmy. Sonic sits down on the railing by the steps and begins to think about everything from Shadow`s mysteries, to the Babylonians starting trouble again, to Eggman not being seen in a while, to what Tails` costume would be for Halloween. A jumble of thoughts but Sonic can sort through all of them easily. Then he begins to wonder what Amy`s Halloween costume would be.

He breaks out of his thoughts when Knuckles taps him on the shoulder,"Hey, Sonic."

Sonic turns to Knuckles,"What?"

Knuckles points to the edge of the school property with his thumb,"Look who`s waiting for us."

Sonic turns around and looks where Knuckles is pointing to. The Babylonians are waiting across the field for the Sonic gang to leave the elementary school property. They aren`t permitted to cross on the property, thankfully. Luckily, authorities don`t trust most teens. Sonic and his friends can come onto the property thanks to their reputation as being helpful to everyone and always stopping Eggman`s evil plots to take over.

Sonic stands up from his sitting position. This is going to be tricky. Even if they were to take a different path home, the Babylonians will just change their course as well and come after them. A good amount of their gang members are there; Jet, Wave, Storm, Bark and Bean. At least Sonic`s group is larger.

Tails runs up to Sonic and hugs him,"Sonic!"

"Hey, there, lil` buddy."

Sonic ruffles his hair. Cream and Charmy exit out of the school shortly after Tails. Their happy greeting is soon interrupted though by Sonic`s warning,"Stick close together with us, kids. The Babylonians have been waiting out of the school property for us. I don`t know what they`re planning this time but I`m not taking any risks."

The children look over and see the said group, still waiting for their group to make their way towards them. Cream swallows and hides behind Amy,"They scare me..."

Amy looks down at Cream,"Don`t worry, Cream, we`ll be all right."

Knuckles puts his fists on his hips,"It doesn`t look like they brought all their crew."

Sonic nods his head but doesn`t say anything in response. Mighty sighs and shrugs,"Well, let`s get this over with."

With some hesitation, the Sonic gang begin to walk towards where the Babylonians are. That direction is their normal path home. Changing direction won`t help. The Babylonians have been known to go after the Sonic gang if they try to avoid a confrontation.

Jet has his arms folded. A smirk comes on his face as he notices the Sonic crew coming towards him and his crew. Standing beside him is Wave. Storm, Bark and Bean stand behind the two of them. Jet tosses his head to the side and gives Wave a quick smirk before he looks back at Sonic and his friends. He changes how he holds his arms. One drops to the side while the other goes on his hip. Bean`s snickering behind him can be heard.

Once the Sonic gang reach the Babylonians, there is just a mere few feet separating the two groups. Sonic is in the front and he folds his arms. Instead of looking serious, he gives the rival group his cocky smirk. Tails sticks close to Sonic`s side. The rest of the Sonic gang stand behind Sonic, preparing themselves for the worst. Sonic breaks the short silence,"So what do you guys want this time?"

Jet picks up a skateboard that is by his side,"We challenge you to a skateboard competition."

Jet holds up his hand and extends his fingers to gesture the symbol for the number five,"Five against five."

Sonic`s cocky smile drops to a mildly surprised look,"Skateboard competition?"

The rest of the Sonic gang are also taken by surprise of this. Everyone was expecting that the Babylonians wanted another fight. But a skateboard competition?

Jet nods his head,"Yes, skateboard competition. Right now."

Well, a skateboard competition is less dangerous than a fight. A lot less people will be hurt. Sonic won`t have to worry about the children so much. Sonic shrugs nonchalantly,"Sure, why not?"

"Pick four other people who will be in this competition on your side."

Sonic turns to everyone behind him,"Knuckles...?"

Knuckles nods his head and smiles confidently,"You can count on me."

Amy jumps up,"I`ll compete, too!"

Sonic nods his head,"All right, Amy-"

Shadow suddenly interrupts Sonic,"I will compete in this as well."

Sonic looks at Shadow for a moment, a bit confused by Shadow`s sudden desire to participate in anything. Then he smiles,"All right. Now one more person..."

Tails tugs on Sonic`s sleeve,"Pick me! I`ll compete!"

Sonic looks down at Tails,"You sure about that? This is going to be a tough competition."

Tails nods,"Yeah! I can do it!"

"All righty then."

Sonic turns back to Jet,"Ok, I have my team."

Jet`s smirk widens,"Good. Let`s go to the skate park. We`ll do our competition there."

Fools...
