This is from the same dream that inspired chapter 2. I`m sorry that these first two chapters are short but there is a reason for that.

After the plushes have all been gathered into a single bag, Amy, Sonic and Knuckles decide to head back home. But of course, not before a little distraction.

There is a pool off to the side in this outdoor mall. It has it`s own wall around the pool much like how the rest of the outdoor mall has, with a few openings around the wall to allow entry and exit. It doesn`t look as though anyone is at this pool at the moment.

Amy jogs over to the pool, wanting to get her feet wet and rest a bit. It`s a long walk back to their homes from here and it took a while for Amy to get there looking for Sonic and Knuckles. Without any resistance, Sonic and Knuckles decide to join Amy at the pool. It would be nice to sit down a while before continuing their journey home.

Amy sets down the bag of plushes and sits down at the edge of the pool. She pulls off her red boots and lowers her feet down into the water. Ahhh, it feels refreshing to get those boots off and soak her toes. Sonic finds a lounge chair to relax on. Knuckles reclines on another lounge chair that is beside Sonic but under an umbrella. Knuckles puts his massive hands behind his head and closes his eyes, deciding to take a light nap.

Amy leans back until she is laying her back with her feet still dangling in the pool water. She closes her eyes and thinks over about today. A lot of her friends were at her birthday and she had a blast there. The Chaotix had brought the biggest birthday cake she`s ever had (and it was delicious!). She received a lot of great gifts at the party. After the party and everyone went home, she was angry that Sonic and Knuckles weren`t there but later found out why. Now she has a lot of new plushes and she`s at the pool with her hero.

Amy opens her eyes half way, slowly. But then she opens her eyes fully and sits up, looking around the pool. There`s sheets of paper all around the pool. She waves her hand in Sonic and Knuckles` direction,"Guys guys!"

Knuckles opens an eye,"Mm?"

Sonic sits up in the lounge chair,"What is it, Amy?"

"Look at this!"

Sonic looks around and takes notice of the sheets of paper. Odd, they weren`t there when the small group arrived at the pool. Knuckles gets up from the lounge chair,"Looks like someone has been littering."

Amy is out of the pool and has picked up one of the papers. She looks at the paper as she grasps it in both hands,"It`s not trash, though. Look. They`re drawings of us."

Knuckles leans down and picks up one of the papers and examines it,"You`re right. This one is of Sonic."

Sonic picks up one of the papers,"This one is of you, Amy."

Amy shows her paper to Sonic and Knuckles,"And so is this one!"

Knuckles switches his glance between Amy and Sonic,"That`s weird."

Amy starts picking up the papers. Sonic watches her,"What are you doing?"

"This is really good art! I doubt someone would actually want to just throw these away. Maybe we`ll find out wh the artist is and can give them back to them."

Sonic puts on his famous smirk,"Good idea."

He bursts into speed, running around the pool, collecting all the papers that he comes across. Once all of the papers are gathered, it looks as though there are enough drawings to fill half of a sketchbook. All the drawings are handed to Knuckles for him to carry since Amy already has her bag of plushes to carry. After Amy puts back on her boots, the three head back to their homes.

Since Amy was the one who wanted to collect the drawings, everyone decides that the drawings will stay at Amy`s house. So Amy`s house is their first stop and then Sonic and Knuckles will part their ways and return to their own homes.

Amy puts the drawings on her desk in her bedroom. Then she hops up onto her canopy bed with her bag of plushes. She flips the bag upside down and dumps out the plushes. The bag gets tossed aside on the floor and Amy begins to arrive the plushes on her bed. At first she looks at the plushes with a happy smile, admiring all of the plushes. Yes, she will definitely have to find the other plushes of the rest of her friends to complete the set.

But then she sighs sadly. Speaking of all of her friends...

Amy lowers her head as she thinks of Shadow. He had done a lot for everyone, fighting the giant ugly lizard thing beside Sonic. Because of his hard work in the battle, he had plummeted towards the earth, exhausted with exerting so much of his power to desperately save everyone. Amy still wonders about his last words to her before he ran off to fight the monster. He said he wanted to keep his promise to Maria...and to her. To Amy? What did he mean by that?

And then, just when everyone thought he was dead, Shadow had re-appeared though for only momentarily. He would occasionally join up with the group to battle against Eggman and whatever evil threatened everyone`s lives. Certainly, Shadow`s help had made a massive difference and who knows how things would have turned out if he wasn`t there to help everyone put an end to it all. Time and again he came. It was if he knew when he was needed without anyone ever speaking a word to him. He just...came.

But this last time around, it has been months since Shadow was last seen. Where has Shadow been? How is he doing? What has he been up to?

Amy looks to her window of her house. She can see the beach from here. She watches the small waves of the water splash up on the sandy shore. The moon`s reflection in the water gives it a romantic feel to it. A sad, soft smile creeps up onto Amy`s face.
