This chapter is based solely on a dream I had last night (July 19 2008).

Sonic and Knuckles are at an outdoor mall together today.

An outdoor mall is what it sounds like - a mall held outside. The shops have stands set in the grass with stone paths leading from one to the other. Trees can be found sitting around the shops. There is a wall surrounding the area but no roof. The entrance inside through the wall is a simple opening in the wall; no doors. Sonic and his friends prefer this kind of mall as it not only provides them with all their shopping needs, but it being outside means they are less contained and have access to fresh air. They are more nature-like than the humans are, afterall.

There is a UFO catcher machine to the side by the wall of this outdoor mall. Sonic and Knuckles are looking at the contents inside the machine. Oddly enough, this machine has plushes of the Sonic gang!

But why would two guys be interested in plushes? It`s Amy`s birthday today!

Sonic and Knuckles both weren`t sure of what to get for her for her birthday. Needless to say, neither male is used to shopping for a female. They`ve visited a few shops before the UFO catcher machine caught their attention. Looking inside the machine, both guys are thinking the same thing - Give Amy a plush of Sonic since she is so obsessed with him.

But, it would be rather awkward if Sonic and Knuckles both give Amy the same thing. So they come to an agreement. Sonic will give Amy the plush and Knuckles will find something else to give her. If Sonic plushes are around, other Sonic things must be available. Perhaps a framed picture of him?

Knuckles looks off to the side to see what shops are down the ways from them while Sonic begins to work with the machine. Once Sonic has slid in a coin, the machine cranks to life. However, before he has a chance to try to grab a plush of himself, he notices something in the reflection of the glass of the machine. He throws himself to the floor just in time before Amy`s famus piko-piko hammer swings into him. The hammer slams into the machine in which causes several of the plushes to fly out of the opening of the machine. They scatter on the floor.

Sonic slowly gets himself off the floor,"What was that for, Amy?!"

Amy is gripping her hammer tightly, quite angrily,"You two weren`t at my birthday party!"

"What? We still have time before-"

Sonic is cut off by noticing Knuckles pointing to his watch. Amy`s right. Her party was hours ago and must be over now. Oh no! Sonic and Knuckles must have spent the entire day browsing shops to find her a present that they missed the party. Sonic slaps his hand on the side of his face upon this realization,"Oh no...We`re sorry, Amy. We were trying to pick you out a present and we must have lost track of time."

Sonic gestures to the plushes that were knocked out of the machine,"Well, you could consider these as your present from us."

Now finally taking notice of what`s around her, Amy looks down at the plushes. She lowers her hammer down as she realizes that the plushes are of their friends. A smile creeps up on her face, finding forgiveness for the hedgehog an echidna as it seems they were telling the truth. Amy begins to pick up the plushes. Knuckles comes out of his silence and helps pick up the plushes. There are Tails, Cream, Rouge, Blaze, Amy, a neutral chao, and Big.

Amy looks through the plushes to see who she has in her possession and who Knuckles has. A frown comes on her face,"A lot of our friends are missing."

Knuckles looks at Amy,"Yeah, you`re right."

Amy looks back at the machine. More plushes of what she already has are in there, as well as plushes of her friends she doesn`t have. She spots plushes of Sonic and Knuckles and a smile returns to her face,"It wouldn`t be fair to not have you two in the collection."

Sonic gives his classic smile,"I`m sure I can get them for ya, Amy."

He turns to the machine and pops in another coin. As Sonic works on catching the plush of himself, Knuckles finds a bag that Amy`s new plushes can be placed in for easier carrying. Once all the plushes are in the bag, Sonic has succeeded in getting the plush of himself. He hands the Sonic plush to Amy who happily takes the plush and hugs it tightly.

Knuckles steps up to the machine,"Since you got her the plush of yourself, I should get the plush of myself."

Sonic chuckles and steps aside,"Sure. It`s only fair."

As Knuckles works on capturing the plush of himself, Amy smiles to Sonic and Knuckles,"Thanks so much, guys!"

She looks at Sonic,"I`m sorry I came after you with my hammer. I thought you two were just being jerks..."

Sonic puts a hand on the back of his head,"That`s ok. We probably should have called or something to let you know we were out for your gifts."

Then Knuckles` voice pops up,"Although this turned out well in a twisted kind of way."

He hands Amy the newly acquired Knuckles plush,"I think that`s everyone."

Amy takes the Knuckles plush and hugs it beside the Sonic plush,"Thanks! Although, that isn`t everyone."

Sonic and Knuckles both look at Amy curiously. Amy walks up to the UFO catcher machine and looks at the remaining plushes inside. There actually isn`t very many plushes remaining in the machine. What ones that do remain are ones she already has. Amy looks disappointed at this,"What about the Chaotix? Like Vector and Espio? And...Shadow?"

Knuckles looks inside the machine and Sonic comes up on the other side of Amy to look inside the machine as well,"Hmm, well, if there were others, it looks like someone else beat us to them."

"Aww..."

Amy turns around with her back to the machine. Sonic and Knuckles do the same. Amy puts on her happy smile,"Well, I`m sure we`ll find them, too."

Sonic gives Amy a thumbs up,"You bet!"
