The Babylon Rogues, wanting to be the number one gang in the town, often challenge the Sonic Gang into either fights or competitions. The competitions are the more likely challenges but if the Babylon Rogues are angry enough, a fight will come up. Although, lately, the Babylon Rogues have been wanting more and more fights with the Sonic Gang. Sometimes, the fights go out onto the streets of Station Square and traffic is held up until either the fight ends or the police come over to break it up. Luckily, the Sonic Gang do get to have breaks from their rival gang at times, and today is one of those days of having a break.

Sonic and his friends are looked at as heroes so they get a lot of privileges and special treatment (much to the jealously of everyone else, especially the Babylon Rogues). However, Shadow is more treated with fear than fandom. Everyone is well aware that he was involved with almost destroying the planet and he isn`t a conventional hero. Unlike Sonic, Shadow has no qualms with killing people if that`s what it takes. A few places are so afraid of Shadow that if he shows up there, they call authorities to come escort him out, whether or not he is doing anything wrong. Rarely does Shadow actually do anything in shops or places of business that is bad or harmful. The worse he has done in such close proximity with regular citizens is getting into fights with Silver, or sometimes Sonic. Shadow mostly ignores the presence of other people but it`s their fear of him that drive them to act the way they do towards him. It is alos known that a few people will flee the store screaming if they see Shadow, for fear of him going on another killing spree. For a while it confused Shadow as to why people act that way when he has saved everyone on numerous occasions. But after a while he has gotten used to it and doesn`t care at this point. He continues to do what he normally does. He also continues to sometimes save people for the reason being that he feels it`s what Maria would`ve wanted him to do. She hasn`t left his mind at all, but Shadow rarely talks about her to anyone since the few sentences he shared a while back.

Now the Sonic Gang are roaming through the mall. With their large number present, the other shoppers aren`t panicking over Shadow`s presence. They trust Sonic and thus because he is there with Shadow with many of his friends, the shoppers feel that if Shadow snaps, Sonic could stop him. Occasionally, they look over their shoulders to see the well-loved gang of the Sonic crew. Sometimes people would approach Sonic for an autograph. Sometimes Sonic will do it, sometimes he won`t, depending on his mood at the time. Even at times, the others in the Sonic Gang are asked for their autographs as well, they have the same response as Sonic where they will occasionally comply.

After leaving the bookstore as one of their stops at the mall, Amy happily carries her bag of magazines she picked up, excited about reading them whe she gets home. Espio has found another ninja book and couldn`t resist getting it. Sonic bought Tails a book on the mechanics of airplanes. Tails is excitedly flipping through the pages, quickly glancing at the pictures. Even Shadow actually bought something at the bookstore. He won`t answer anyone`s questions as to why he bought this book in particular. Instead he opens it up and begins to read it silently while he walks with everyone, holding the book with one hand while the other hand is shoved in his pants pocket. It amazes Cream to see Shadow read a book and navigate the hallways of the busy mall without bumping into anyone or walking into anything. She watches Shadow with full curiosity as to how he is able to do that.

For the rest of their trip around the mall, Shadow has his attention focused on this book, reading it as he travels with the others. If anyone continues to ask Shadow about this book, Shadow remains silent and doesn`t even look their way. He sits down on the bench in the hall with the rest of the male members of the gang, while the female members go into one store in particular that none of them want the boys entering. For most of the guys, it doesn`t bother them to not enter this store. Cream is too young for the store so she remains behind with the guys.

When the girls finally emerge from the store, Amy has a new body spray bottle in her hand, seeming to be enjoying it`s scent. Rouge has a bag full of new lingerie items, no big surprise there. Blaze has a new body spray but it`s different from the one Amy bought and she also has a couple of other items.

Now that the girls are re-grouped with the guys, the Sonic Gang continue their way. They all begin to talk about what the weekend plans will be. A few of them suggest that another slumber party is due as it has been a while since their last one. At this suggestion, Mighty immediately suggests that it be held at Vector`s house as Vector has the biggest house, thus he would have the most room available for such a large group. Everyone begins to agree.

Before anything more can be said on the matter, Amy interrupts the conversation and calls everyone`s attention on to the tvs that are in the display window of a movie store that they are walking by. Amy gives Sonic`s arm a shake and points to the display window,"Sonic, look! They have something on Eggman!"

The whole group stop walking and approach the display window, crowding around it. It is a news reporter giving a report that indeed does have to do with Eggman. The top right corner shows a still picture of Eggman`s face, smiling menacingly. The reporter goes on with her report,"Authorities still do not have a clue as to why Eggman kidnapped this mysterious girl. What we do know, is that the girl is in dire need of medical treatment. When she was found on the Space Colony Arc in a frozen state, the girl was seriously injured by a gunshot wound to the chest. She was brought to a hospital and was unfrozen and the doctors had begun to tend to her wound. No one is sure how long she had been there or who she is. No form of identification could be made on her. Eggman had barged into the hospital this morning with several of his robots and took the girl before her wound could be tended to. No one is sure if the girl had sustained any more injuries during the barrage or not. But one thing is for sure, she needs help. The wound she had before she came to the hospital was serious and she could die if she isn`t helped by doctors soon. Police are out looking for the girl and Eggman, hoping to rescue her. Also-"

Sonic has his fists on his hips. He finally speaks up after hearing this, his voice sounding a little down from hearing Eggman`s heartless action,"Oh man..."

Amy is standing beside Sonic. She looks saddened at the tv, putting a hand over her mouth. She feels concern for the injured, unknown girl as she is unable to help herself,"That poor girl...What is Eggman thinking?!"

Rouge puts a hand on her hip but she looks serious as opposed to her usual flirtatious look she has when she poses as such. She has less concern for the girl and knows that Eggman wouldn`t do such a thing without some evil scheme behind it,"And that girl is going to die because Eggman took her from the hospital? He`s up to something..."

Espio turns his head to Sonic, he has his hands behind his back,"Did that reporter say something about the Space Colony Arc?"

Sonic turns to Espio and nods his head,"Yeah, she did, actually. I wonder if Shadow-"

Sonic turns around to where he saw Shadow was standing during the duration of the news report but is surprised to see that Shadow is no longer standing there. He`s gone! Shadow must have just taken off. Sonic was going to question if he knew anything about this as the Space Colony Arc is Shadow`s world. Sonic`s mouth drops open a little upon noticing Shadow`s sudden disappearance,"Shadow?"

Rouge turns around to look in the same place Sonic is. Her eyes noticeably widen a little when she, too, sees that Shadow is gone. Then Rouge scoffs,"Now where has Mr. Unsmiley gone off to?"
