Not a lot of action happens in this episode but this is an important one. I hope this does Sonic some justice. (See author`s message.)

Sonic is all patched up and cleaned up from the fight with Shadow earlier at the school today. He is walking to Amy`s house with Tails. Sonic is in a lot of pain from the beating Shadow gave him. At the time of the fight, Sonic was regretting starting it with Shadow. But now, he needs to move forward. What`s done is done and the future is the only thing ahead.
Amy is absolutely upset and needs consoling. Sonic suggested that Rouge do it but Rouge said that Sonic needed to be the one who talks to Amy. He isn`t sure why since he knows that Amy will probably attack him with her piko-piko hammer upon sight, especially the way she reacted to him when they were still at the school. But Sonic moves on anyway. He`s sure that Rouge is right. Despite her flirtations with guys, she can be surprisingly insightful. When she makes a suggestion that contradicts his choice, rare as it is, she is usually correct.

In her bedroom, Amy laying on her side on her bed in a partial fetal position. She is hugging her new pink hedgehog plush tightly to her chest. She has been crying since Shadow was taken away and she hasn`t stopped.

When she tightens her hug on the plush, she feels something not-so-plushy on the hedgehog. She slowly brings the hedgehog up into view. Amy looks at the pink ribbon tied around the hedgehog`s neck and notices a card with it. The card is white and has her full name written on it. Amy rubs her eyes. Why hasn`t she noticed this before?

Amy sits up in her bed and carefully removes the card from the hedgehog. She sets the hedgehog down in her lap and opens the envelope. She sets the envelope aside and reads the card that was inside of it. The message inside is very short and simple: "In my world, there is only you." Below that is where Shadow signed his name.

Amy re-reads the message over and over. Not much is actually written on the card but those few words are saying a lot. It pulls at her heart strings and tears well up in her eyes again.

Sonic enters Amy`s home with Tails right behind him. He calls out for Amy since he doesn`t see her in sight immediately and closes the door behind him and Tails. Tails sets his backpack on the couch and seems very excited to be able to see Amy again. Since today is Friday, maybe they`ll have another sleepover?

Amy comes rushing into the living room full of fury and she makes it obvious,"Sonic, do you have any idea of what you have just done?!"

Sonic is quickly backed up into a corner by Amy and expresses his cluelessness. Tails is immediately alarmed due to his own lack of knowledge of what is going on. He pleads to Amy to not hurt Sonic but she isn`t paying any attention to him at the moment. Amy continues her verbal attack on Sonic,"Thanks to your little stunt, GUN is going to execute him!!"

She suddenly whirls away from Sonic and stands off to the side. Amy buries her face into her hands. Tails looks at Sonic for an answer of just what is happening here. Sonic steps out of his corner and approaches Amy. Now he understands why Rouge sent him instead of going to Amy herself. Sonic puts his hands on Amy`s shoulders and gets her to turn around and face him,"Amy, you need to come clean with me and tell me what`s going on."

Amy gives Sonic a pouty face for a moment before she drops her head and gives in. She sits down on the couch and begins to tell Sonic the story:

"Shadow was created fifty years ago by Eggman`s grandfather, Gerald Robotnik. He was to be something to aid him in research on immortality and to find a cure for his granddaughter, Maria, who had a disease called NIDS. And...he was also created to be able to protect everyone from something major that is going to happen."

Is? Does that mean whatever it is, is still on it`s way?

"They were all in the Space Colony Arc when they were creating Shadow and were doing all this research. Somehow, GUN got word of 'Project Shadow' and I guess they got the wrong impression or something because they thought Shadow was a dangerous weapon. They stormed into the Arc and had orders to kill everyone involved. Maria was among those who were shot but she managed to stay alive a little longer. She took Shadow to the pods and put him into one. Her wound finally did her in and she died, collapsing in front of Shadow as she pulled the lever that shot him to Earth. The only people that survived the whole ordeal were Gerald and Shadow.

"GUN found the pod with Shadow in it and took him and Gerald into custody. Shadow was traumatized by everything...He and Maria were really close..."

Amy pauses and closes her eyes for a moment. She sniffs and opens her eyes again before continuing,"Eggman found Shadow some time ago and released him. Apparently he told Shadow that he could roam around for a while and that when he needed him, Eggman would come for him. Then a while after that was when Shadow and I met. He never said why but he seemed to have taken a liking to me enough where he stuck around and visited me frequently. During times where he was off somewhere else, we kept in contact through letters."

Sonic is silent. He looks at Amy, taking all of this in.

He knew it. He knew Eggman was involved somehow. He was the one that released this monster. And Shadow is well over 50 years old? He sure doesn`t look like it or act like he`s old. Shadow acts as though he`s just as young as Sonic. One could assume that Gerald was successful in achieving immortality. To be a protector? That would explain why Shadow was quick to defend Amy and why he came after the Babylonians when Wave hurt Tails and when Tails was attacked by the UFO catcher machine, Shadow came to his aid. Maybe his violent outbursts actually have a purpose...

Sonic has another thought. If Shadow was created out in space, then Eggman released him later on Earth, Shadow is an alien to this planet. He knew no one when he awakened and knew nothing of the times or cultures, or anything. He was alone and most likely had the incident in his memory and must have been distraught...Poor guy...He lost everything he had when GUN attacked the Arc. Who knows what kind of treatment he got from people for being so different and so unknown. He must have been drawn to Amy because Sonic knows that Amy has kindness towards people and never judges anyone by how they look. She must have taken pity on Shadow and tried helping him adjust to this new world. Maybe because he hung around the Sonic gang so much because not only was his ray of light there but also maybe...He wanted to be accepted by others and have a safe place where he could be? And then Sonic shunned him...Sonic, of all people, shunned Shadow. He was no better than GUN; making assumptions about Shadow before taking the time to actually learn what he`s really like and just write him off as something that needs to be rid of.

Sonic looks at Amy again who was looking at the floor. Sonic grabs Amy`s wrist,"Come on, Amy."

Amy looks up at Sonic questioningly,"Where are we going?"

"They`re not going to execute him right away, right? We need to hurry if we`re going to save Shadow."

Sonic may not like Shadow that much but he is against killing anyone no matter how bad they are. It`s why Eggman is still running around. Knowing this, Amy begins to feel a little better and agrees,"Yeah, let`s go."

Sonic`s other hand grabs Tails and the three of them quickly run out of Amy`s house. On the way, Sonic gives the rest of their friends a call on his cell phone. They will need all the help they can get for this mission.

Time is short...
